Another unit leaves the painting desk.
A second unit of Dragoons.

| Compared with the previous unit (on the left) that was painted with acrylics except for the horses. |
At wargaming distance the first unit seems to pop a little better than the new unit. At closer range the contrast paint shows a lot more of the detail but it is not apparent at normal gaming distance. I am not sure if I will continue using the contrast paints for the uniforms for 10mm. On the horses it works well as they only require one coat and it shows of all the bridles etc.
Anyway, another unit completed for the Grand Army.
I do need to add flags for the cavalry though.
Figures 10mm from Pendraken.

Some French Lancers next.

You are keeping an impressive pace in mustering out your Frenchmen. Good job! Always good to confirm how figures look at viewing distance when tabled.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan. I should probably paint test figures but I am too lazy 😁
DeleteStill good to get the comparison though.
Nice work on the new dragoons Ben, the first unit does seem "brighter" so depends what effect you prefer I guess.
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith. Glad you agree. I do like the bolder colour.
DeleteMy contrast paints now sit sulking in the back of the cupboard. Unused. You did a better job with them than I’d have managed. Top stuff as usual.
ReplyDeleteThanks JBM. I find them useful for some paint jobs. Better for 28mm than for the smaller scales although the 10mm horses do come up well which I like because I used to hate painting horses but now find it quite easy.
DeleteNice work Ben. I get a headache thinking of painting on that scale!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jason. Low standards are my friend 😂
Deletewhat's a normal gaming distance for a 10mm figure? I wouldn't think there would be that much detail to see on any 10mm figure...
ReplyDeleteanyway, great job at getting another unit out. You'll be in the home stretch soon.
Thanks Stew. I use the 3 meter standard (10 feet in old money) 😂
DeleteNot far to go now.
