I wonder.... a post about AI

This is just a post about a random thought I had regarding the increase in blog views and subsequent return to normal numbers over the past few months.

I noticed that many of the blogs that I follow have said that the significant increase in blog views, presumably related to AI, have now returned to normal levels.

I have also seen that two of the wargames sites I check in on, Wargames Website and Wargame Vault, had introduced a check to see if I was human or a robot. Obviously millions of robot views will increase the workload of the servers on which your website is running on. This I presume causes an increase in cost or other negative impacts.

As Google runs millions of blogs they would have seen an enormous increase in the traffic on their servers and therefore increased costs. Would they implement some technical solution to stop this?

As there are many AI models, all of which need to be trained, it seems odd that they all stop looking at blogs at the same time. Unless of course the only one looking at blogs was Google's and they have decided that blogs are of little value.

Is this a conspiracy theory? Probably. But not a very interesting one.

Better content to follow.

  1. Well, Ben, let's hope you got your conspiracy theory wrong, or Google might decide Blogger is no longer of any use, and turn it off!
