In lieu of anything more interesting to post I am joining the fad of posting pictures of my painting desk. I am shamelessly jumping on the bandwagon before the Kardashians.
Also I have not posted anything for a couple of months and no doubt the internet is suffering. Google's share price has gone up $2 since I last posted so obviously I need to fix that!
Here is the painting desk - not as messy as some but still messy
The rest of "Ben's wargame room" as my wife kindly says - or "Ben's play room" per my mum's more accurate description. Unplayed game sitting there for 3 months. |
Over the past few months I have actually being painting. Which I don't post as my painting is not very good. My children got me a new camera - that can take photos in much greater detail - not sure that my painting efforts need that - a low pixel count and slightly out of focus works for me. π
Dutch Napoleonics - starting down the Nappy rabbit hole with something simple. |
An army of bears in case they are ever required. e.g. an army taking a short cut through the wood on Teddy Bears' Picnic day. |
Platypus Archers - to go with the Kangaroo Legionnaires - no doubt the result of some unsanctioned genetic meddling in the 23rd century |
So there it is - first post for 2023. Hopefully will do better next time. π
Hey Ben...I really want to see what the view from your window is like...haha...looks like a really nice & quiet retreat from the world, so to speak. You are also continuing your form by posting the weird & wonderful...you can't leave us hanging...when will 'The Great Billabong War' see the table? All the best.
ReplyDeleteWhoa Dash! "The Great Billabong War" I hadn't thought of that!!! Which one, first second or third? π
DeleteIt is a very very quiet street - except when the garbos come round at 6am to pick up the bins π
That's a fine painting desk. and pretty cool that you have some dedicated space to leave a game up.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't feel shy about posting your painting. My painting is average and people always say nice things and it's good for the motivation.
but whoa now, hey now! NOBODY said anything posting pics of the lead / plastic pile. I would need several posts and LOTS of pictures to document that small mountain. π
Thanks Stew. The kids finally left (except the youngest one) so we have plenty of room for silly hobbies. It is great to have the energy, space and time to spend on my hobby!
DeleteRegards to painting - a nice person once said there are two types of wargame painters- talented and enthusiastic. π I am definitely enthusiastic! I do enjoy painting, i am just not very good at it,. But I like my style of painting - i know it is not as good as many/most/all and that i have not improved since the 80s, but I am content with my results π
Relax about the lead pile photos - these are the ones likely to be painted, those who I purchased in the last millenium are safely hidden in various boxes.
This looks much less crowded and insane than "the dave cave". An enviable sun lit position for painting. I'm in a basement furnace room...
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, luckily I have an understanding wife who does not like stairs so I got the room all to myself. My room does feel like a furnace when it has been very sunny - when we first moved in I had my paints on the desk but they started to dry out so now I need to keep them in a draw.
DeleteYour painting area is quite tidy, and I see you have lot's of storage for all your projects.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave! Storage is difficult with the sloping walls, but the boxes work really well for me as well as being cheap.
DeleteFirstly, nice to see you back in print Ben - I do check every time you comment on my blog, but it has been quite a while between drinks!
ReplyDeleteGlad also to see you joining the painting desk reveal - as you say, its a good way to add a post without actually having to produce painted figures or a game report! Your area does look reasonably tidy.
like Stew, I would like to see a bit more of your painted figures - no matter how well we paint (I think I do ok) there are people out there who just leave you gob smacked, so lets see the Dutchies and the Great Billabong War figures in more detail!
Thanks Keith. I have been very slack - more consuming internet rather than creating π
DeleteOk! by popular demand from my adoring public I will get them all out for a proper photo shoot π
hey Ben Let the Kardashians stew!
ReplyDeletelol Simon
DeleteYour painting desk looks well lit and not too messy. You need a bigger Lead Pile…
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan! I have made a new order and told my wife it is all peer pressure and not my fault π
DeleteSure. Blame your friends…
DeleteFirst time visitor, Ben, but I will be back. Great looking paint/modeling area. Just a quick browse tells me there is a lot to see in your archive. I am also an enthusiastic painter, don't worry about style, the groups out here are very supportive and helpful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon! I agree, I have found everyone to be very kind
