As the Martian controlled area expanded many humans were overrun and went in to hiding. Some of them formed into partisan groups, armed with weapons scavenged off battlefields, they started to make raids on Martian installations.
The Martians believed the colonisation effort was going well despite the human efforts to resist. However, some Martians were becoming fatigued and they were sent to small posts to keep control over the land and to manage the Mars-forming efforts to make Earth into a liveable Martian colony.
Here we see one such outpost, a primitive human abode that was easily fortified with a Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator covering the road in both directions, Martians are manning the walls and two small pickets are in position further out.
The Mars-forming efforts are going well with the Martian trees loving all the moisture on Earth.

An overview of the isolated outpost and the approaching humans. A downed tripod marks the site of a rare human victory. |

The outpost with it's stored human blood bins. |

The revolting natives |
|
The natives start their attack, a well placed shot by the Q-36 kills a base of cavalry but the natives push on undeterred |
|
The natives continue their assault, pushing through the Martian forests to avoid the Q-36 |
|
The natives attack! Their primitive cannon has deployed next to the destroyed tripod. |
|
Disaster! the native cavalry has made it inside the compound. But one of the native infantry companies has been destroyed. |
|
The battle see-saws - the Q-36 is destroyed! Only a few Martians survive. |
|
A final volley of fire destroys the native cavalry and the rest of the natives retreat. But only a few Martians are left to savour the victory. |
Well a fun game. Poor Brits lose again but that is often the fate of the natives when facing a coloniser with superior weaponry.
The Martians are free to push on to London.
hi Ben
ReplyDeleteCavalry don't seem to do so well!
Do the Martians drink horse blood.?
Good story as always.
The cavalry nearly saved the day. As usual for the British - a heroic failure.
DeleteHuman blood only for your better class of Martian!
Thanks Simon.
A great setting, Ben! Great terrain and miniatures and cool storytelling as well! I will surely take a look at what's happening to London in the next game.
ReplyDeleteThanks Skully!
