Project end.... British Napoleonic rifles completed

The final British unit rolls off the painting desk to complete the army.

British Rifles regiment

The Rifles in skirmish order coming out of the trees

The Rifles in close order defending the walled farm. I decided I would have them in close order too as they sometimes defended in close order or were in square

A mixture of contrast and normal acrylic paints.

So the score board is finally at 100% for all units. Yay me!

List of figures and units.  All Pendraken figures, as are the flags.
Figure
Number    Type                                Units        Percentage completed
180            Line Infantry                   6x30            100%
36              Light Infantry                   3x12          100%
32              Rifles                 1x20 & 1x12            100%
15              Household Cavalry        1x15            100%
30              Dragoons                        2x15            100%
3+12          Line Artillery & crew        3            100%
3+12          Horse Artillery & Crew    3            100%
2+8            Horse Artillery limbers     2            100%
5                Commanders                     5             100%
4                Wellington with aides        1             100%

Now only a few issues have arisen for my Napoleonic armies.

1)    When searching for what flag the Rifles had I discovered they didn't have one as being light infantry it would get in the way. So what to do with this figure and also with the flags in the other light infantry units....

2)     The rules I am going to use are Neil Thomas' Napoleonic Wargaming and this requires line units with 4 bases and light with 2 bases. My armies are in units of 6 line and 3 light bases. So lesson learned, choose the rules before buying and painting πŸ˜‚. So do I buy some more command units or ignore it and just only field the required bases? I think I will just ignore it and see if the current figure count can cover the table I have, if so, no more purchases, if I can squeeze extra in some more painting will be required.

Anyway, I am happy the project is completed and will do an army parade next.

  4. Nicely done ..... and certainly done by Christmas :-). It feels. like the British took less time than the French? I wouldn't worry about the flag, it sits in that sort of area of army building / play that I can ignore. The NT Napoleonic Wargaming is a nice set, I must have re-read the Leibnitz scenario / AAR a dozen times.

    1. Thanks Norm. It certainly surprised me! Even done by Halloween 😁
Good point about the flag, just something I wish I looked at before I purchased and painted everything πŸ˜‚
Thanks for giving NT Napoleonics the thumbs up. I hope that they give a fun game. As always, easy to add in a bit of chrome here and there with his rules.

  5. Great job! You put this collection together lickety-split. Don’t fret about number of bases per unit. Treat your units as having four hits and two hits respectively and don’t remove the unit until all hits are accrued. I’ve done that NT 19th Century rules and my units are on one, single base.

    1. Thanks Jonathan! Very surprised I am at my productivity. I am going to follow your suggestion on hits. I dont like the idea of removing bases as it makes the units look a bit silly when they get down to one or two bases. I have made up some counters were I can record hits a bit easier than using the small dice that i have previously used.
